Cold-dip galvanized steel pipes are also known as electro-galvanized steel pipes. They use a room-temperature electroplating process, completely different from the high-temperature immersion hot-dip galvanizing process. During production, a fine and uniform zinc layer is deposited on the surface of the steel pipe through electrolysis. No high-temperature heating is required, the pipe substrate does not deform, and the overall dimensional accuracy is higher, with better surface smoothness. The finished product has a bright and smooth appearance, with a thin and evenly distributed zinc layer, avoiding the zinc nodules and thick layer build-up common in hot-dip galvanizing. However, precisely because the zinc layer is thinner, its corrosion resistance is relatively limited, making it more suitable for dry indoor environments. It is not recommended for long-term use in harsh environments such as outdoor exposure, salt spray, and high humidity rain. This is a key point for accurate selection.

The core process of cold galvanizing involves using pickled and activated steel pipes as the cathode and pure zinc plates as the anode, immersing them in an electrolyte containing zinc salts. Under the action of a DC electric field, zinc ions are reduced and deposited on the pipe surface. This process has the following technical characteristics: High coating purity and smooth appearance: The electroplated zinc layer is composed of pure zinc, without iron-zinc alloy phases, and has a uniform silver-gray luster, offering superior decorative properties compared to hot-dip galvanized products.
Highly controllable thickness: By adjusting the current density and electroplating time, the coating thickness can be precisely controlled between 5–25 μm (approximately 35–180 g/m²), suitable for subsequent painting or assembly processes with strict upper limits on coating thickness.
Strong internal surface treatment capability: For small-diameter pipes, electroplating can achieve uniform zinc plating on both the inner and outer walls, while hot-dip galvanizing often results in uneven zinc layer or dripping issues on the inner surface of small-diameter pipes.
