Alloy Steel Seamless Pipe

Alloy Steel Seamless Pipe
Product Introduction:
In high-end industrial pipelines, power plants, and petrochemical refining projects, ordinary carbon steel seamless pipes often encounter performance bottlenecks. Faced with continuous high temperatures, ultra-high pressures, alternating temperatures, and trace amounts of corrosive media, ordinary carbon steel pipes are prone to oxidation, creep, deformation, and even cracking. For this reason, Alloy Steel Seamless Pipe has become the preferred core pipe material in demanding engineering projects worldwide, and is the designated material for many high-end process pipelines, boiler equipment, and refining units.

Simply put, Alloy Steel Seamless Pipe is a one-piece pipe made by precisely adding alloying elements such as chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, and manganese to carbon steel, and then using hot rolling and cold drawing seamless forming processes. It has no weld seams or splicing defects throughout the entire process, and its overall metallographic structure is uniform and stable. Compared to ordinary pipes, its most prominent advantages are high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, and creep resistance, while also possessing stronger resistance to oxidation and low-temperature brittleness. Many foreign customers find that ordinary steel pipes can only meet conventional transportation needs, while truly critical equipment pipelines almost always require alloy materials.

The manufacturing process of Alloy Steel Seamless Pipes demands extremely high technical standards, primarily divided into two main processes: hot rolling (extrusion) and cold drawing (rolling):

Hot Rolling (Extrusion) Process: After heating, the round billet is pierced, then rolled using a three-roll skew rolling mill, continuous rolling, or extrusion molding. Following this, it undergoes tube removal, sizing (or reduction), and cooling. The billet also requires straightening, hydrostatic testing (or flaw detection), and is finally marked and stored.

Cold Drawing (Rolling) Process: After heating and piercing, the round billet undergoes heading, annealing, pickling, and oiling (copper plating). It then undergoes multiple passes of cold drawing (cold rolling) to form a billet, followed by heat treatment, straightening, hydrostatic testing (flaw detection), and finally marking and storage. Cold drawing is typically used for precision steel pipes requiring high dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

With its high strength, good toughness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, Alloy Steel Seamless Pipes play a crucial role in numerous industrial projects. Its main application areas include:

Energy and Power Industry: Primarily used in high-temperature, high-pressure fluid transport headers and pipelines for boilers in power plants and nuclear power plants, such as high-pressure boiler tubes (representative materials include 20G, 12Cr1MoVG, and 15CrMoG).

Petrochemical Industry: Widely used in boilers, heat exchangers, and fluid transport pipelines in oil refineries, as well as pipelines for transporting high-temperature, high-pressure fluids in fertilizer equipment.

Mechanical and Engineering Structures: Extensively used as pipelines for transporting oil, natural gas, coal gas, water, and certain solid materials. It is also widely used in the manufacture of structural components and mechanical parts, such as rolling bearing rings, jack sleeves, bicycle frames, and steel scaffolding used in construction.

Special Equipment and Military Industry: Alloy Steel Seamless Pipe is also an indispensable material for various conventional weapons, such as gun barrels and cannon barrels.

Currently, these alloy pipes are widely used in boilers, high-temperature superheaters, and reheater pipelines in thermal power plants; hydrogenation, cracking, and heating furnace systems in petrochemicals; high-temperature process pipelines in coal chemical industries; and high-pressure fluid transportation in low-temperature conditions. Although alloy pipes are more expensive than ordinary carbon steel pipes, their stability and service life are significantly superior, greatly reducing the overall cost of equipment downtime for maintenance and pipeline replacement.
