The 2PE anti-corrosion layer uses a hot-melt process to tightly bond two polymer materials, forming a dense and robust external anti-corrosion barrier:
Bottom Layer: Copolymer Adhesive (AD) As the connecting link between the anti-corrosion layer and the steel pipe substrate, the adhesive layer (typically 170–250 μm thick) has extremely strong adhesion. It not only bonds firmly to the surface of the steel pipe after rigorous shot blasting and rust removal but also fuses with the outer polyethylene material at the molecular level, effectively preventing the anti-corrosion layer from peeling off under complex stress.
Outer Layer: High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) As a physical barrier against external aggression, the polyethylene layer (typically 2.0–3.7 mm thick) possesses excellent impact resistance, bending resistance, and extremely low water absorption (below 0.01%). It effectively isolates the soil from moisture, oxygen, acids, alkalis, salts, and microorganisms, while also resisting root penetration and mechanical damage during construction.
In terms of applications, 2PE anti-corrosion steel pipes are widely adaptable, especially suitable for conventional civil and general industrial projects. In municipal applications, they are mainly used for urban gas branch pipes, urban and rural water supply and drainage networks, and buried pipelines for residential heating return water systems.
