The working pipe of polyurethane insulated straight seam steel pipes uses ERW high-frequency resistance welded pipe (small diameter) or LSAW straight seam submerged arc welded pipe (medium to large diameter). Both of these processes perform robustly in the DN20–DN400 range.
The biggest advantage is pressure resistance. The weld seam of the straight seam welded pipe is parallel to the axis of the steel pipe, resulting in uniform stress distribution. With the same wall thickness, it can withstand higher pressure than spiral pipes. If the project's design pressure reaches 2.5MPa or even higher, straight seam pipes are basically the default option. Furthermore, straight seam pipes have better surface smoothness both internally and externally, resulting in more uniform adhesion when applying anti-corrosion coatings to the inner wall. This is quite important in chemical projects-some media require high cleanliness inside the pipe, and the weld reinforcement of straight seam pipes is also easier to control.
Of course, straight seam pipes are more expensive than spiral pipes. That's the nature of the manufacturing process. Therefore, when we provide solutions to clients, we never say "use straight seam pipes exclusively," but rather we consider the operating conditions: for high pressure, small diameter, and media with special requirements, straight seam pipes are used; for large-diameter main lines and medium pressure, spiral pipes offer better cost-effectiveness. Frankly speaking, clients trust this kind of advice more.
This product is widely used in secondary pipe networks for centralized heating. From the heat exchange station to the branch networks of various buildings, the pipe diameter is mostly concentrated in DN50–DN200. Prefabricated insulated straight seam pipes can be backfilled immediately after on-site welding, making construction much more efficient than on-site insulation.
In industrial plants, steam, hot water, and thermal oil supply branch pipes often have small diameters but complex routes with numerous elbows and tees. We provide matching prefabricated insulated pipe fittings to ensure consistent insulation performance throughout the entire network.
For oil and chemical projects, some process pipelines have high requirements for internal cleanliness and weld quality, where straight seam pipes are advantageous. Combined with 3PE external anti-corrosion or epoxy powder coating, they can also meet the needs of corrosive environments.
District cooling systems are also suitable. In commercial areas or industrial parks with centralized cooling, chilled water pipes need to be protected against external condensation. Polyurethane foam itself has low water absorption, and combined with the sealing protection of HDPE outer sheaths, the anti-condensation effect is ideal.
The production cycle for standard specifications is generally 10–20 days, while special materials or wall thicknesses require 20–25 days.
