Required Equipment
One set of manual arc welding equipment, one handheld angle grinder, one electric pneumatic hammer, and one straightedge.
Pre-welding Preparation
1. Inspect and test the equipment to ensure proper operation; 2. Prepare φ4.0 J402 welding electrodes (ideally dried at 300°C–350°C for one hour).
Welding Process
1. Assembly: Assemble the conical section and the large flange according to the drawings, then divide the large flange into eight equal segments.
2. Welding: Due to the significant thickness of the flange and the large weld groove, a segmented, symmetrical, multi-layer welding technique is employed.
Weld Quality
The weld strength must at least match that of the base metal. The weld surface must be flat and smooth, free from defects such as burn-through, porosity, leakage, slag inclusion, undercut, or incomplete fill. Weld reinforcement height must be less than 2 mm.
